The Ring

In the year leading up to the big date, Karl would off handedly lead Amanda into a jewelry store to get her opinion on rings. He tried to do this specifically in the summer of 2006 so that Amanda would have a full year to get the idea of rings out of her head and not be suspecting anything come the summer of 2007. Several times, he even asked Amanda her ring size, but she was not sure what it was. Karl knew he would have to find another way to get the information he needed. So he decided to recruit Amanda's mother, Delia. Delia then claimed to be buying rings online and asked Amanda to try on some of Delia 's rings to find out her size.

A couple of days later, Delia gave Karl the ring that fit Amanda the best so that he could take it to the ring store with him. Karl found the ring he wanted with the right style and stone configuration at Zale's. The ring originally contained eleven diamonds, the nine visible ones with two on the underside of the band.

With the ring in hand, Karl went downtown to Miller's Jewelry to purchase two Yogo Sapphires. Karl wanted to put Yogo Sapphires into the ring because sapphires are his birthstone. Yogo Sapphires are also more rare and valuable than diamonds and are uniquely found only in Montana. Karl had the Yogo Sapphires added to the ring on each side of the largest diamond.
The Proposal

After spending a relaxing day at Disney's Blizzard Beach, Karl and Amanda went to The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to watch the

"SpectroMagic" Parade and the "Wishes Nighttime Spectacular" fireworks. At the end of the fireworks, they went over to the Disney statue to get their picture taken. In front of the Disney statue, Karl got down on one knee and asked Amanda to marry him. Amanda said, "yes".
